We had waited for a long time to get a glimpse on a new Honda Pilot crossover which replaced an old Pilot from 2012.The second generation of Honda Pilot crossovers has been around since 2009 with only minor design changes in 2012 so we are looking forward to see what kind of new model is going to be put on sale by Honda. Honda had sold 1.4 million Pilots solely in North America since their introduction of the first series in 2002. Pilot will certainly delight us as Honda had announce radical changes that that will certainly improve your driving experience. The 2016 Honda Pilot is packed with a modern technology and it even has a new engine. New Pilot is going to be a premium vehicle and it defiantly rises above the usual SUV category. We should take a look at what the third generation of Honda Pilot has to offer.

2016 Honda Pilot Engine

You will find a new direct-injected 3.5 liter. The Engine is the same as the one of MDX and it either has a MDX’s six speed automatic or in the top trims ZF-sourced nine-speed with automatic start-stop. Honda did not make public power figures for Pilot’s engine but we already know that figures of MDX’s engine are 290 horse power and 267 lb-ft of torque. The engine is equipped with incredible two-stage Variable-cylinder management that switches between six-cylinder and three-cylinder modes. This depends on the load which shows us that Honda cares a lot about fuel economy.

Exterior design

The new 2016 Honda Pilot is going to have softer lines than its predecessors a fact that makes it slim and more elegant. Honda realized that consumers do not want pickup trucks anymore so the design follows the trend. It looks a bit like Honda Odyssey, a minivan which was popular a decade ago just without the sliding doors. Pilot is about 300 pounds lighter which will certainly have a huge impact on sales. It was designed in the US, to be more precise In Ohio and California. New Honda Pilot comes in a wide variety of colors such as the classic black, white and grey and more fun ones such as metallic red, pale orange and blue. There is a color for anyone so it is up to you to choose the one that you like.

General features

The basic structure of Pilot remains as it is a front driver and you can also have a four wheel drive which got a major upgrade. Honda did not reveal much information about the setup but they say that the crossover has two electronically controlled clutch packs that are used to maximize traction. There are also additional features as a panoramic roof and 20 inch wheels.

A Lot of new features are introduced to the Honda Pilot 2016 such as new seven passenger configuration if you are willing to spend some extra cash, a reversible cargo lid, a large console which is effective and big enough, up to five USB slots that can charge your device at 2.5 amps. Honda had added many security features such as: adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, and road-department mitigation. These safety features will cost you extra but it is better to be safe than sorry.

Honda announced that the sale of the third generation of Pilot will start in summer of 2015.

New Honda Pilot price

Honda did not reveal the price but it is expected that it will rise significantly due to many overall changes which were introduced to the 2016 Honda Pilot. We can only speculate that the starting price is  $30,000.

If you want a good crossover and you can wait with the purchase of a new SUV until summer, we would defiantly recommend the new upgraded.
