2018 Acura NSX Type R review

You have a sports car, it is great, it is fast, it looks fantastic, but, you miss a detail. It is just not good enough. What do you do? Well, you need a role model, something to base your car on. Acura needed just that for the new NSX, so they bought a Ferrari 458, chopped it apart and learned how to make their product even better, faster, louder. They gave the main accent to the aluminum frame, hidden under the Ferrari’s body. Some say that Japanese are good at it. Even Jeremy Clarkson once mentioned that Japanese manufacturers just take the various parts of Europe, put it together and make a car. But, is it really true? After so many years, so many models, is there really a way to make something completely new? We could probably conduct a really hard and long conversation about this, but now, I’m here to tell you that the new 2018 Acura NSX is going to hit the tarmac. And let’s see what does it do.

Aggressiveness might be the word to describe the new NSX R-Type. The front will probably be a bit changed. LED lights will, for sure, be present. Redesigned grill will add yet more of supercar look to the new R-Type. There are also rumors that the stability will be improved by adding a few millimeters to the width. Redesigned air intakes should make sure that the engine is cooled properly. Rumors about NSX Type R have been circulating true the internet since the production of the standard version began and those rumors are increasingly frequent since the mysterious Acura NSX has been catch while testing on Nürburging.

What the previous model definitely lacks is the tail wing. Designers will most probably add one to the new R-Type. Just look at the consequences of that move. Look, stability improved 0-60 MPH and more. There is no real reason for the Acura not to put one to the end of the vehicle.

The new 2018 Acura NSX Type R also went through weight reduction program, so it is almost certain that the car will feature lighter wheels and a bunch of carbon fiber surfaces.Aluminum body frame is accepted, after all, they did research a 458. When it comes to coloring, well, the render is red, but, Acura can easily change that. So the R Type’s main color could easily be white, black, and any other. The certain thing is that there will be no large color palette to choose from. After all, this is a supercar.

When it comes to Japanese manufacturers, Acura is the Honda’s brand, you remember, we are used to the cockpits looking like a video game. And judging by the previous versions, new Acura R-Type will be no exception. Large 8-inch touchscreen, climate control buttons, yes, they will most probably keep the climate system, even after the weight reduction program. Sports steering wheel, probably aluminum pedals, and sports seats will be a certain choice from Acura’s designers. Interior coloring will follow the outside, so if the car is red with black details, the interior will be kinda reversed, black with red details. There is no much mistaking with those choices.

And here are the real news. NSX is now a Hybrid! The main engine remains the same. Twin turbo 3,5L V6, direct injected powerplant with a maximum output of 500 HP and 406 LBFT of torque. Added to this, there are three electric motors, giving the car all-wheel drive and just immense power at startup and acceleration. Those three combined are adding about 123 HP. Acura’s officials said that the electrical motors could deliver even more power to the main drivetrain, so the total could be over 700 HP, and the engineers are looking for ways to just that.
