The Honda Accord is a series of automobiles manufactured by Honda since 1976, best known for its four-door sedan variant, which has been one of the best-selling cars in the US since 1989. The Accord nameplate has been applied to a variety of vehicles worldwide, including coupes, wagons, hatchbacks and a crossover. Although this model get facelift in 2016, Honda is already working on its new version because this version from 2016 is starting to show its age. The 2018 Honda Accord should bring more than enough changes inside and outside paired with the new design language that will rocket the sales once more. Key updates are expected to be a new platform and the addition of a new turbocharged engine. Company claims this new model will be the most stylish and fun to drive Accord ever built. But let’s keep reading for more information.
2018 Accord Changes
Even though the Accord is one of the best selling middle-size sedans in the class, it has never been design leader so this time company decided to use a lot effort in order to make this new model more appealing than before. The Accord’s new face obtains heavily from the existing Civic and it will come with a shorter, lower, wider, and sleeker profile. Thanks to its dramatically wider and lower appearance new model now has a more aggressive and athletic look. Also new model is now lighter for 110 to 175 pounds than the current model. There are slim, wide fronts lights that finish at the grille, with LED daytime running lights streaming from the corners down as well as in. The grill itself is a lot bigger, topped by just what’s most likely a chrome bar with the Honda logo square in the center. The form of the haze light real estate aims to mirror that of the daytime running lights. Since 1976 when the first Accord coupe was introduce, this is the first time company decided to release it only in sedan version. We can say, thank you for all this years Accord coupe and rest in peace. :D

The fast cabin echoes that of the current Civic sedan and marks a departure from the more conservative shape of today’s Accord. The next Accord will also share its platform with the Civic which is the new modular design from Honda that is lighter and stiffer than anything previously used by the automaker for its regular fleet and should benefit the Accord’s dynamic qualities considerably. A version of the platform will also underpin Honda’s next-generation Honda CR-V. If we compare this new 2018 Honda Accord with the previous model it looks more aerodynamic and sportier at all.
Interior redesign Honda Accord 2018
When you take a glimpse at the interior it reveals that designers have looked at the Civic for inspiration, with the compact car’s angular design themes being transferred over on the Accord. Making it somewhat wider also helps a lot inside, increasing the overall comfort for the passengers. Interior is going to get updated in a way where Honda will combine Civics and Accords interior and produce something mind blowing. On the tech side we can expect Honda Sensing active safety technology to continue to be a key piece in marketing the sedan as a safe and reliable family car. Features like forward collision warning, automatic braking, active lane-keeping and adaptive cruise help earn the current car a coveted IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating on well-equipped models. This will all find its way inside of the redesigned Accord for the 2018, and get updated, because there is no such thing as enough safety, if you want to stay competitive that is.
2018 Honda Accord engine and specs
When we talk about engines new 2018 Honda Accord will come with two different opinions . One of them is a 1.5 L turbocharged 4 cylinder engine also used in the CR-V and Civic. This engine which will be used as a base will be able to produce around 200 hp.It will be paired to a CVT automatic or a standard six speed manual transmission. When it is word about upgrade version it is confirmed that Honda is throwing away its 3.5 L V6 in favor of 2.0 L turbocharged unit which will be able to produce between 250 and 260 hp. Company also said that new model will have better acceleration times and better fuel economy than the current V6/6AT Accord. Not only the new engine will be the most powerful in the class it will also be paired with new 10 speed automatic transmission, which is the first time front-wheel drive car is paired with. The six speed manual will also be available.Honda will produce its turbocharged engines at its Anna, Ohio plants, CVT transmission will be built at Russells Point in Ohio while the new 10 speed automatic gearbox will be produced at the Tallapoosa, Georgia plant.
What is left as a good news is that an Accord Hybrid will also be offered, featuring the same intact 212 HP 2.0 L 4 cylinder engine and electric motor combo that Honda introduced in the 2017 Accord Hybrid.
