2019 Honda BR-V Release Date

Mini SUVs have been on a roll recently so there have been quite a few manufacturers joining the ranks in the past few years. One of them has been Honda. Not that long ago they released the BR-V, a small car based on the Mobilio. Even though the BR-V isn’t exactly using the newest available technology around, it still offers a great set of features which quite a few people love. However, the car is getting slightly dated so in order to remain on top, it looks like an update is already on its way. This should hit the market with the future 2019 Honda BR-V. So far Honda didn’t really say a lot about it. Even so, it looks like the updated BR-V might feature quite a few upgrades inside and out which will make it that much of a better deal.

Review

Even though it looks like a true SUV, the BR-V doesn’t really offer the off-road capabilities of one. The car is based on a front wheel drive hatchback platform which uses a slightly different running gear for this particular application. In order to become slightly better, it looks like the future 2019 Honda BR-V might get an independent suspension system for its all wheel drive versions. The regular front wheel drive model on the other hand should remain with the same torsion beam rear suspension setup. The brakes will still use drums in the back which is not ideal. However, this is quite cheap and on top of that, really easy to maintain. As an added bonus, it looks like the car may receive different shocks and springs. These would allow the BR-V to become a bit more comfortable on the road without ruining the car’s rather tall ground clearance.

2019 Honda BR-V release date and price

Most rumors seem to suggest the tiny crossover will hit the market by the end of 2018. This would allow Honda to tackle the newest arrivals while also giving their buyers a really great upgrade path. So far it looks like the price will hover around the equivalent of $13,000 for a base model. This is roughly in line with its rivals but the BR-V should come out on top as it would offer more gear for the price.

Exterior design

There is nothing really wrong with the ongoing model and this shows in its sales numbers. The upcoming 2019 Honda BR-V is unlikely going to receive any major changes to its design. However, the car should come with a slightly different front end, more similar to that of the new CR-V. The grille is likely going to boast a slightly smaller horizontal slat while the headlights should become even more aggressive than before. The rear of the BR-V will remain mostly unchanged though, so expect similar tail lights as well as a nearly identical bumper design.

Interior design

Unlike many other cars in this class, the 2019 Honda BR-V will feature up to seven seats which is highly impressive. While the rearmost seats will be average at best, this should still be enough to allow the car to shine when compared to its rivals. Some changes should happen in the front. Here the steering wheel should change to a new three-spoke rim. On top of that, the car’s unusual infotainment system should be gone. In its place we should finally see Honda’s latest system which will be much better integrated with the rest of the dashboard.

Specs

The base model of the new BR-V should make use of a 1.5 liter naturally aspirated mill offering around 112 horsepower and over 100 lb-ft of torque. A more powerful version of the same engine, featuring VTEC, is also a real possibility. This one should provide 130 horsepower and 112 lb-ft of torque, more than enough to allow the BR-V to be fast enough for a family. In some markets Honda will also offer a 1.5 liter diesel with around 100 horsepower. As a range-topping model, it looks like a 1.0 liter turbo-three might be on offer as well. This one should make around 115 horsepower and 130 lb-ft of torque while delivering better fuel economy than even the diesel. All engines will come equipped with a 6 speed manual or a CVT automatic. The AWD system will only be available on the manual-equipped cars.
